Hello,NCVC Members & Friends,

We had our September event on Saturday, the 22nd, there were 8 members and one guest who showed up for the picnic and the tour of the Lick observatory and the ride on down to Road Rider.

Out of the 9 people who showed up, only one was on time and that was Herb Alpers, he was about ready to give up on us when John, our guest (Ken Farmer) and myself showed up. The following members took the challange and made it to the event, John Adkins, Herb Alpers, Dale Bird, Pam Wright, Don Brubaker, Doris Brubaker, Bob Joyner, and my self.

We sat around the park for a couple of hours and played some game John brought with him, looked like lawn bowling to me, but he called it something else, anyway he & Ken Farmer beat Doris & I,  than he couldn't get anyone else to play with him, so he decided it was time to head up the hill.

If you have never been to the Lick Observatory I would like to strongly recomend it, there are about 150 turns coming up from the east side, than once you are on top you have a very spectacular view of the mountains and the valley's to the west and south, they give you a guided tour of the 18" telescope, and they now have the 20" telescope opened up for public viewing, all of this is very interesting.

We spent about one & a half hours at the observatory, than we went down the hill on the west side, from the top to the bottom there are (Don't Quote Me) 172 curves, some of them you can almost see your own tail lights on.

We stoped in San Jose and gased up, than headed on over to road rider, we spent about an hour there, than we split up and everyone went their own seperate way, John -Ken & I went back via 152, the valley was so hot we had to stop in Los Banos and partake of a lerge ice cream cone before we could go any farther.

All in all I think we had a very nice day, the weather was wonderful, the road was very nice, had a few bad spots from time to time, but the good more than made up for the bad, and most of all we had some wonderful company, even though I didn't get to bum any lunch from anyone, I didn't go hungry.

Our next event will be the Poker run over in Georgetown, on October the 6th, some of us will be camped out at the VFW park Friday & Sat nights, and some of us will be staying in a hotel or motel, but regardles of where you stay we would sure love to see those of you who are not working the run; come out and do the run or just come out and keep us company.

Just get out of the house, your going to be some what shut in here in a few weeks, so get out while you can.

John has the November event already scheduled and you can view it on the website, probably by Friday night or sooner.

That's it for now, everyone keep the rubber down & the plastic up, Cheers.

Uncle Ray
