I pulled myself out of the bed at 0600 and lit the fire under the coffeepot, I was on my second cup when John came crawling out with cup in hand, and we had several cups of coffee and some sweet rolls John had bought the night before. We had a few hours to kill before the jazz jubilee got into full swing, So we decided to go fishing again, John caught one of his rejects from the night before, We were hoping some of the members would show up so we could have some one to lie too about the size of John’s fish. I did forget to tell you that Duane Stark was at the camp ground when we arrived, we had a nice little visit with him, and when we decided to have dinner he headed for home.We waited around the camp for someone to show up, but no one did by 11:00 so we decided to go it alone.
When we arrived in old town, the traffic was horrible and I could just see us parking 2 miles away and walking back to Don & Doris’s hotel, They were staying at the Holiday Inn and we were supposed to pick up a key at the desk, give them a call and than wait in their room. We circled around three or four blocks until I found the entrance to the hotel parking lot, There was a sign that said parking was $8.00 a day, we were both reaching for our money when we got to the gate, But the attendant told us motorcycles parked free and directed us to the M/C parking area. (What luck). When we arrived at the desk and picked up the key we went right up to the room, We didn’t expect anyone to be there, but to our surprise we found Doris laying on the bed, She jumped up and gave both of us a big hug, we talked for a little while, than she had to show us her scar, which I took a picture of. Doris took us to the Firehouse parking area where they were stationed for the duration of the jubilee, There we met Don, Rex & Dannette, After some big hugs and some bone cracking hand shakes they sat us down in their dough out and we all got caught up on the latest gossip and happenings in our areas.
Don & Doris scrounged up a couple volunteer ribbons for us, which meant we got into the jubilee free plus we had as much free liquids as we could drink, (including beer & the hard stuff). We went on a tour of the jubilee and saw probably about half of the events that were taking place in the area. We could see that Doris was getting very tired, although she denied it very strongly, we knew the only way to get her to rest was for us to go back to camp, and take a nap ourselves, We had to promise her we would come back later on in the evening, which we did. We stayed until after dark, we got to see the girls get all lit up, what a sight that was, I have never seen anyone with that many lights on them at one time, They weren’t really lights, They were little tubes in different lengths, you break the seal inside them and they glow in the dark, very neat especially for an old Okie boy like me that’s never been to town before. John and I were going to stay until Monday, but when we saw how weak Doris was we decided to head on home so she would at least get some rest before she croaked on us.

I was able to get half day discount tickets for our club for Saturday evening, the best nite I might ad, for the price of $13.60. As u know, these normally sell for $25.00. The tickets will be given to me for sale to NorCal / AVA / ?. With these tickets, you will be able to take free buses to any where we have a venue, including Cal/Expo. The site I manage is the "Fire House Lot" which normally is the parking lot for the Fire House restaurant. This is in Old Sac. on L street between Front and Second streets. I have included a small map of the area for reference. You can call my cell # (916) 296-9109 or Doris's cell # (916) 806-1932 for directions also. After getting there, just ask the person on the gate for Don or Doris Brubaker or a site manager. I will be informing my crews and their supervisors of whats going on so there should be no confusion.
