Vacaville Poker Run
March 10th 2001
Weather in Vacaville
Hello Folks, we had a nice campout and I guess the poker run wasn't really as bad as we acted like it was, although it was poorly organized as far as the ride was concerned, the events back at the dealership seemed to go much better, the food was about as good as it gets for hamburgers & hot dogs, they served as much as you wanted to eat, so I guess that's worth something. We tried to hold a business meeting there on the grass but our plans were short lived, the band started up about four minutes into the meeting and that was the end of that, we did get to meet some of our members we have never had the opportunity to meet before, plus we signed up three new members while we were there, and I would like at this time to welcome them into the chapter Mr. George Rogers who by the way has a brand new 2001 Voyager, we are looking forward to riding and getting together with him in the up coming season, If I remember right he said he wasn't a camper, so that means we are going to have too get busy and find something or someplace to go where we can get together with all our none camper members, how about an over nighter in Lake Taho, we can all rob our piggy banks and go for the gusto, If you like the ideal of a night in Taho send John Adkins an e-mail and let him know how many we have that want's to go. Now I would like to welcome two more new members into the fold, Mr. Dale Bird and his riding companion MS Pam Wright, They also have a new 2001 Voyager, Dale said he wasn't a camper, but I think I heard Pam tell him that he is a camper, that he just hasn't realized it until now, so hopefully we can share some camp fire smoke and some John Adkins tall tales with them this summer. We also have another new member who was there at the poker run but didn't ride with us, and he also has a new 2001 Voyager, I didn't get a chance to talk to him very much we were very busy trying to get signed in and get out on the road, and I would like to apologize to him at this time for not being able to talk for a while, His name is Duane Stark, and I believe he signed his wife up also, I haven't had the opportunity to look at his membership application yet, Duane lives up in Woodland, Dale lives down in San Bruno, and George lives in Fairfield, their names, addresses and phone numbers will be on our web site hopefully by this Thursday or Friday, so any of you members who live close by please give them a call and ask them to take a little ride with you, maybe you will make a new friend that will last a life time. We are working on a few rides and things for the up coming months, but I will let the tour director tell you all about them, so in the meantime keep the rubber side down and the plastic in the air, By the way you know it's really funny all of our new members chose the same color combination for their new Voyagers, Isn't that something. Cheers.

Hello EVERYONE.
You are invited to Vacaville
on March 10th to participate in a Charity Poker run at the NEW INDIAN dealer
in town. They are REALLY NICE people. I installed their telephone system for
them and know that for a fact. The poker run sign in starts at 8AM and
the run starts at 9AM. The cost is $15.00 per hand which includes a
BBQ lunch. NOT BAD. It is a charity poker run to raise money for Tim Martinell's
son Kenny who has cerebal palsey and they are hoping to raise enough funds
to purchase a wheel chair or side car. Raffle tickets on sale and raffles
will be going on all day. Music by Silver Spur band. Test rides available
on NEW INDIAN Motorcycles for anyone interested. If you are interested,
EMAIL me for details or call me at 707-448-2363 after 5PM any night.
OK people, Let's show them Voyager people care. Besides, it's time for a get
together anyway. Hopefully it will be a clear day with NO RAIN. I hope to
hear from everyone in the club and anyone else who is tired of all this rain
and wants to go on a ride. Who knows, it might be one of us who gets the BEST
POKER HAND.

The camp ground is Lake Solano Park just outside of Winters, California.
They are using Winter rates which are $8.00 per night with a $5.00 charge
per extra vehicle per sight. $3.00 extra for utilitys if you
want them. They have showers also (free). Being Winter, there should be
PLENTY of spaces to camp. I don't know if you can reserve spaces but I think
you can. The grounds are next to Putah Creek and just down river from Lake
Berreyessa and the Damn. Any one want to fish? Bring your poles and fish in
the reservoir up by the damn. I don't think trout season is open in the stream
but you can fish for catfish or bass in the Lake.
Direction to the camp ground: On I80 take the off ramp to Hwy 505 toward
Winters. On Hwy 505 take the Winters off ramp to Hwy 128. Stay on Hwy 128
and go through Winters. Follow Hwy 128 until you get to Pleasant Valley Road. There
will be a little country store with gas pumps on the left JUST before the
turn. Take a left turn onto Pleasant Valley road. Cross over the bride
and on the RIGHT side will be the camp grounds. Lake Solano Park camping.
If you "MISS Pleasant Vally" road you WILL end up at the Lake and will have
to go back about 3 miles. I think you can get more information about the campgrounds
by calling 1-800-939-PARK.
I'm checking on Motel/Hotels today.
Meeting places: I will check with Emil Villas Bar-B-Que to see if they
have a Banquet room for 20 to 30 people that we can reserve. We can also check
out our local Dennys.
It is still a LITTLE nippy and raining off and on but we can hope it isn't
raining on the weekend of the 10th. Hopefully, we'll have a good turnout.
Bye for now.
