Don Medina invited club members to join him Sept 7-12 on a trip to Salt Lake City for vintage motorcycle races. Races are Saturday and on the reutrn he will spend a day in Denver. He usually does 400-700 miles per day, cruises at 65-70 mph & will stay in motels. Anyone interested email him at bluemedina@sbcglobal.net.
Ray brought several beautiful crocheted afghans made by his late mother-in-law. They were offered to club members at $10.00 each. All were purchased. Thanks to Betty’s family for parting with them and our sympathies go out to you.
Don Medina reported on the July AVA Rally in Rapid City, SD, attended by Don, Trisha Blue, Wayne and Sandra Bright.
Don Medina proposed that we consider sponsoring a 2-day regional rally October 2008. We would need help from a lot of members. ROK (Riders of Kawasaki) would support us with some nice prizes. The AVA would pay insurance ($200). He suggested that we hold it at a casino like Chukchansi in Fresno because they have the facilities and we may get more spouses to attend. We would also get good exposure for the club. We could have a poker run, bike show and dinner. He thinks we could do a good job and have a lot of fun.
The 50/50 raffle was won by Ray Walls. He treated the new members to breakfast.
Ray made a toast to the club members on our 7th birthday and said may we ride for many years. We enjoyed a delicious cake. Ray asked if there were any more questions or suggestions; there were none. He thanked everyone for coming. Shirley Deatherage thanked us all for our hospitality and for lunch.
Meeting was adjourned @ 1352
Minutes from last meeting were read by Trisha Blue. Approved by Dennis Ellingson; seconded by Bill Owens.
Wayne reports that we received a letter from the IRS. We will have to file an electronic form to maintain our tax-exempt status. He will take care of this. We had a starting balance of $2875.51. We took in $30.50 from 50/50 raffle. We have bills of $100 and income of about $100. Report approved by Bill Owens; seconded by Bryce Eichholz.
Ray is taking orders for 50/50 polo shirts with an embroidered club logo patch on the front. Ray sold some old shirts & logo patches.
Oct 19-21 camp out & picnic at McConnell State Park.
Gualala campout is August 16-19. Ray is going Thurs, 8/16. We have 2 sites that can accommodate 8 people per site. This is a beautiful setting and promises to be an excellent campout.
There were about 200+ Voyagers & other motorcycles. We had excellent weather, fun outings including the Fort Hayes dinner theater, Mount Rushmore lighting ceremony, Tour of Ellsworth Air Force Base, bike skill games, opening and closing dinner ceremonies & more. Don’s bike won 1st place for Custom Touring Class and my trike won 2nd place for Trike & Sidecar Class. We can’t wait for July 2008 in Bowling Green, KY.
