CLUB MEETING - 09/06/03
The monthly meeting was held in Modesto, and called to order by the
President (Ray Walls) at 12:25PM.
Members present were:
Guest introduction was by George Rogers. Guests were Donald Medina from
Half Moon Bay Ca. & Max Roelen, from Citrus Heights.
Minutes from previous meeting: they were not available and members were
encouraged to check the club website for previous meeting minutes (Editor:
when available, we'll also post the next meeting Agenda as well).
Financial Report: The treasurer Wayne Bright reports that we are indeed
solvent, We have a bank balance of $912.34. Expenditures and income were
noted in the report. All reports will be posted on our web site for the
convenience of all members. (click HERE to view
the report)
Social /Activities Directors Report: Don said he had nothing to report at
this time. Our event for September will be the 5day tour of North Western
California and South Western Oregon. Those participating in this ride will
all meet at the Gold Country Inn, In Weaverville Ca, by 7:00PM on the
evening of the 12th. Old Business: Grand Tour, Ray said he had found
someone that would make us patches for the tour and he presented two
versions of the patch. They were both the same designs, the only
difference being one had the V filled in, in red. The cost of the plain
patch for a quantity of 15 is $7.05 each and the other one is $7.45 each.
It was decided we would order the plain patch for $7.05 each. Now how many
do we order, Bryce and Ray wanted to give everyone that participated in
the tour a finishers patch. The rest felt it wasn't right for those who
didn't finish the tour to receive a patch. A motion was made to not give
the patch to those that didn't finish the tour. A vote was taken and by
popular demand it was decided to only give the patch to those who took the
effort to do the ride. The motion carried. October event, this is George
Rogers's tour. It's set to go on October 4th, and we will all meet at the
Vallejo Kawasaki dealer. To save space it was decided that George would
send the information to the Web Master and he would put it on the web site
for everyone to down load if they desire to do so.
New Business: The new business was dominated by discussion surrounding
the replacement for the Triangle Rally in June of 2004. (Editor: If you
are an American Voyager Association member, you'll recall that in this
month's AVA newsletter Duane and Charlotte Ash have decided to not go for
another year in sponsoring the popular rally). Ray has volunteered the
Northern California Voyager Club to host a rally, it was finally decided
to name it the 'Western Regional Ride In', and scheduled it on June 8/9/10
(Tue/Wed/Thu). This gives those attending the weekend before and after to
travel. Ray wants to try to keep it simple, kind of like a big family
reunion. It was also decided to open it up to all motorcycle riders. Ray
wants to have three rides on Tuesday & Wednesday:
· Yosemite
On Thursday morning we will have a 4 or 5 hour poker run in the mountains,
and be back in time for the winners to be decided. That evening, around
6:00PM, we will all have a nice sit down dinner. The ride in will be held
at the Madera County fair grounds. There will be ample camping spaces
available for those who want to camp; there are showers available at the
campgrounds. We also have the option of a kitchen if we can find enough
people to run it for the three days. A motion was made to vote on doing
the ride in or not doing it. The vote was that we would do it, so the
motion carried to do it. Ray will do most of the legwork since he lives in
the area. Ray requested the members present to come up with an
advertisement flyer for the Ride In. Ray also had a brochure from the
Golden State Riders Club out of Fresno. He wants someone to make one for
the Northern California Voyagers Club and provided the information he
wants on the brochure and gave them leeway to make some changes. Bob &
Bryce took on the job.
New Bylaws: There was a motion made to change the club bylaws. The change
will be to allow any member who has a position on the board to maintain
that position until he or she gets voted out or until they decide they no
longer want to serve in that position. The motion was seconded by Don
Brubaker, vote was taken and the motion carried. It was also decided to
put this motion on the web site with a voting booth to allow the whole
membership to vote.
Web Master: He wants to restore the Newsletter and put it on the web site
so everyone can down load it. He will be doing the newsletter from now on
(with my blessings). To be able too make a go of this he will need input
from all members, MONTHLY. If you take a ride somewhere and you see
something you think is worth writing about or someone else might be
interested in, than send it in and you can send photographs too. If you
send in photographs please put the information with it so people will know
what it is, where it is and how to get there. There being no more business
to discuss, President Ray Walls adjourned the meeting @ 2:17 PM.
